Otorhinolaryngology (ENT)

Introduction

Otolaryngology is generally known for treating diseases of the ear, nose, and throat. However, in a broader sense, it addresses all medical or surgical diseases occurring from the eyes down to the chest.

Common diseases treated in this field include otitis media, sinusitis, and voice disorders. Additionally, conditions such as dizziness, allergic rhinitis, snoring, and head and neck tumors are also managed by otolaryngologists.

Due to the anatomical proximity of the ear, nose, and throat, diseases in one area can affect others, necessitating comprehensive treatment approaches.

Diseases in the otolaryngology field are often chronic, and infections can lead to severe complications if they spread to the brain. Therefore, early treatment is crucial, especially since the affected areas are exposed and can complicate surgical interventions.
