Nuclear Medicine

Introduction

Nuclear medicine is a specialty that diagnoses and treats diseases using radiopharmaceuticals to assess the anatomical and physiological states of the human body. It has developed through the integration of various fields, including nuclear physics, chemistry, and biology.

Nuclear medicine can be divided into three major areas:

Imaging Diagnosis: Using gamma radiation for imaging the body (in vivo testing).
Therapeutic Applications: Treatment utilizing radioactive isotopes (nuclear medicine therapy).

In Vitro Testing: Measuring trace substances in blood and other body fluids using gamma radiation assays.

Our Department of Nuclear Medicine has operated as an independent department since the establishment of the specialist system in 1995, having been part of Inha University Hospital since its inception.
